HONEY CHASE
DESCRIPTION
HoneyChase is a side-scrolling platformer packed full of action. Play as a woodland bear that gets it's honey stolen by evil wolves, and embark on an epic journey of platforming and smashing in the heads of wolves. Reach the Big Bad Wolf boss holding your honey hostage, and give him a piece of your mind!

DESIGN PROCESS
Multiple iterations on the paper prototypes for 2 levels and 1 boss level.
CHALLENGES
As the lead designer, some of the challenges that I encountered included:

Ensuring that the metrics are accurate for all levels.

Making sure that the metrics are comfortable for the player in earlier levels and gets harder at later levels.

Going by the 7 second rule - that a player has to at least change his direction / jump / interact every 7 seconds.

Ensuring that the player does not get punished by obstacles / enemies during earlier levels until he learns about it.
-
Exploring verticality so that the levels won't be too monotonous.

Balancing the cost, damage and type of attacks the player can purchase from the shop.
-
Balancing damage and range of the enemies.
-
Making the environment feel alive.
-
Pacing the game in terms of difficulty, flow and engagement.
